The wait for the N.B.A. 2018/19 regular season is over with opening games slated for 16th October 2018 with its conclusion on 19th April 2019. The teams have made transfer moves of their players in a bid to strengthen their squads for the lengthy championship campaign ahead of them .
However, key transfer moves saw LeBron James sign for Western conference franchise , The Lakers from his former team, The Cleveland Cavaliers, who finished runners up in last year’s finals where they lost to The Golden States Warriors. The Golden States warriors also brought in DeMarcus Cousins from The New Orleans Pelicans to improve on the depth of their squad in a quest to defend their championship title and cement their position as leaders of the Western Conference.
The move of LeBron James to the Western Conference will bring more competition into the conference with former Western Conference finalists, The G.S.W. and The Houston Rockets keeping a close eye on the formidable Lakers team led by ”King James” who has been ranked among the best ballers of this generation in recent years. This season will bring excitement to N.B.A. fans globally as the teams in the conference battle it out in a match up where only two of the best teams will have an opportunity to play in this year’s finals. The lakers will however, have to take advantage of LeBron’s inclusion into the franchise and step up their game in order to reach the conference finals which is the only gateway to the championship finals.
The Eastern conference provides much open title match-ups especially with the exit of LeBron from the conference. The Cleveland Cavaliers will have to adapt to a squad without ‘The King’ and keep alive their hopes of clinching the conference final ranking. They will however, have to showcase consistency as the face a very strong Boston Celtics side whom they defeated in last year’s Eastern conference finals proceeding into the finals. Other formidable squads include The Philadelphia Sixers and Toronto Raptors who showed great consistence in last year’s championship.
The N.B.A. season will provide a thrilling seven months of the biggest dunks, long-range shooting prowesses and ankle-breaking plays all in a quest to clinch this year’s N.B.A. title. However, only the teams with great strategy and consistency will manage a place in the finals.
