NBA Season 2018-2019

The wait for the N.B.A. 2018/19 regular season is over with opening games slated for 16th October 2018 with its conclusion on 19th April 2019. The teams have made transfer moves of their players in a bid to strengthen their squads for the lengthy championship campaign ahead of them .

However, key transfer moves saw LeBron James sign for Western conference franchise , The Lakers from his former team, The Cleveland Cavaliers, who finished runners up in last year’s finals where they lost to The Golden States Warriors. The Golden States warriors also brought in DeMarcus Cousins from The New Orleans Pelicans to improve on the depth of their squad in a quest to defend their championship title and cement their position as leaders of the Western Conference.

The move of LeBron James to the Western Conference will bring more competition into the conference with former Western Conference finalists, The G.S.W. and The Houston Rockets keeping a close eye on the formidable Lakers team led by ”King James” who has been ranked among the best ballers of this generation in recent years. This season will bring excitement to N.B.A. fans globally as the teams in the conference battle it out in a match up where only two of the best teams will have an opportunity to play in this year’s finals. The lakers will however, have to take advantage of LeBron’s inclusion into the franchise and step up their game in order to reach the conference finals which is the only gateway to the championship finals.

The Eastern conference provides much open title match-ups especially with the exit of LeBron from the conference. The Cleveland Cavaliers will have to adapt to a squad without ‘The King’ and keep alive their hopes of clinching the conference final ranking. They will however, have to showcase consistency as the face a very strong Boston Celtics side whom they defeated in last year’s Eastern conference finals proceeding into the finals. Other formidable squads include The Philadelphia Sixers and Toronto Raptors who showed great consistence in last year’s championship.

The N.B.A. season will provide a thrilling seven months of the biggest dunks, long-range shooting prowesses and ankle-breaking plays all in a quest to clinch this year’s N.B.A. title. However, only the teams with great strategy and consistency will manage a place in the finals. Formula one heats up

 

 

 

The race for supremacy in the formula one season 2018 continues as the competition heads for Russia on September, 30. Lewis Hamilton stretched his lead on the driver’s standings with a win in the Singapore Grand Prix. He is 40 points adrift his arch-rival Sebastian Vettel from The Ferrari camp with only six races remaining to the end of the season. They are followed by Vettel’s teammate, Kim Raikonnen who is closely followed by Hamilton’s teammate from the Mercedes camp, Vallteri Bottas. As the season continues, it is evident that the main contenders are the ferrari and mercedes teams. Drivers will seek to collect maximum points from the Russian Grand Prix in a bid to strengthen their rankings in the championship standings. Lewis Hamilton, who won last year’s championship race intends to register the same performance in the remaining races in order to win the title. Vettel on the other hand will put pressure on Hamilton to ensure he closes  the gap between the two title contenders. The answer  however, lies on the remaining six races and it is interesting to see which driver will become victorious at the end and which team will take advantage over the rest.

Liverpool’s form season 2018-2019

September, 18,2018 saw the opening matches of the Champions League tournament in the various groups. Biggest match was Liverpool hosting french-based Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield. The match ended in a dramatic victory for Liverpool with Roberto  Firmino securing a late goal for the English club.This meant a perfect start in the tournament where they finished runners up in the last year’s season and fourth in the English Premier League.Is liverpool proving to be a formidable force and do they have the strength to bounce back from last year’s tournament and win it this season,,,??? Do they have the proper squad to win the English Premier League….???

Since the arrival of their coach Jurgen Kloop in October,2015, the team has improved greatly with the signings of top class players. The arrival of  Goalkeeper Alisson from As.Roma provided a boost in the goalkeeping unit. Other crucial signings include Nabi Keita from RB Leipzig and Fabinho from Monaco to provide depth in the midfield unit. The club has made a perfect start of the season winning all their games prior to their uefa champions league clash with Psg. They have managed to stay top of the table and their win against the french giants will boost their confidence moving forward. Kloop’s tactic is the 4-3-3 system of play with a provison for an-all attack strategy. With the depth in the squad and tactic system that has since favoured them, liverpool are proving a force to reckon with the world of football. However, as the team goes deeper into the various competitions, consistency will prove a major boost for the squad. They are hoping to clinch their first E.p.l. title in over a decade and this year’s  Uefa trophy. It is going to be an exciting stretch of liverpool matches as fans watch if the club will maintain their consistent performance in a bid for success. With a strong offensive unit, the club has a chance to prove their worth in the 2018-2019 football season.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace in his club’s 2-1  defeat over Sassuolo during this past weekend.These goals were his first since joining juventus from his former club Real madrid where he spent nine years of his career.

Biggest Question is..??Will he impress at his new club..???

He is dubbed as one of the greatest footballers of this generation having received five Ballon d’Or awards and boasts of being the best goalscorer of all top five european leagues in the world.Cristiano played an integral role  in helping his former club, Real madrid bag three consecutive Uefa Champions league trophies from 2013-2018.

Considering  his move to the italian giants, Ronaldo provides a major boost for the club’s quest to win the Italian Serie A season 2018-2019 and most importantly the Uefa Champions League.They have faced two exits at the knockout stages of the Uefa tournament with last years dramatic defeat by Real Madrid.

The club has a number of world class players and has a strong defensive strategy especially with  veteran defenders, Chiellini and Bonucci. The midfield and attacking unit comprises of notable names like khedira, Matuidi, Dybala ,Mandzukic and other key players who make Juventus a club to reckon with. Considering Ronaldo’s prowess to score many goals, it is clear that Juve’ fans are optimistic for a good Uefa Champions League ending.

The club has been grouped alongside Manchester United (England), Valencia (Spain) and young boys from Switzerland. They will be hoping to utilise their depth in squad under Massimiliano Allegri, to win titles.With the arrival of Cr7 in Italy, it is only a matter of time before football fans experience whether Christiano will be Juve’s saviour to lead them to a Uefa Champions league title.

Uefa/ Europa Fixtures

Teams are gearing up for start of  the midweek Uefa/Europa league games.Uefa fixtures are slated  for Tuesday, 18 September,2018 and Wednesday, 19 September, 2018 respectively.A total of 16 games are expected to be played across Europe with a number of highlight fixtures.Liverpool will host Paris Saint- Germain at The Anfield Stadium.Fans around the globe expect a thriller match with both teams recording great performances at their respective  leagues.Another match expected to impress football fans is the current Uefa trophy holders,Real Madrid hosting As Roma at The Santiago Bernabeu.

Week 5 of English  premier league:

The race for the E.p.l. title heats up as clubs battle it out for glory. The results of week 5 saw race leaders Liverpool face tottenham in the early kickoff. Liverpool emerged with a 2-1 victory and they tie Chelsea at the top of the table with 15 points each.They are closely followed by last years champions, manchester city who are 2 points a drift of the leaders.At the bottom of the table saw westham pick up their first win after beating everton to a 3-1 scoreline.This leaves NewCastle and Burnley struggling at the the bottom of the table with one point each.
